Bad news

This will be my shortest blog so far.
Reacting to good or bad news is easy. You just have to realize whether it's good or bad news and act happy or sad respectively. What isn't easy is the days before, the days when you're convincing yourself that you're going to get the bad news so that you can prepare for the possible situation better, whilst in the back of your mind: "I'm going to get the good news", to the point where you know you're screwing yourself over by indirectly convincing yourself but you can't help doing it.
I just found out I'm not qualified for the gymnasium ('high school') that I applied for. What's worse than this is that my second hand choice was a school I definitely don't want to go to. I'm sad, of course. Not really sure what to do from here. My entire last tryhard year in school was a waste, that doesn't feel very good either. Now I'll be going to a school with students that grade from everything from far below average to... Average...
It doesn't feel very good, RWC.

Prestigious high school. As it turns out, a bit too prestigious. The score was estimated around 275, and my 290 points turned out to be 10 points short, leaving the actual requirement at 300.
The second hand choice is not too bad, the median merit is 255 points, which is slightly above average. What's appealing with the school I actually did get into is that I'll be able to read English more intensely and eventually I'll be able to get what's called a Cambridge degree, which will allow me to study at a university in an English speaking country, if I would happen to want that.
Like I said, it's not too bad, I just really would enjoy having a school-enthusiastic class (laymen's terms; preps) and not a class of people who just "took something".Posted 07-02-2012 at 09:51 PM by Addict

What would being a top student accomplish? Only thing I can think of is reputation among the teachers perhaps granting further good grades.
EDIT: Allow me to clarify what I meant. What's top grades at the school I'll go to will be average grades at the school I want to go to. Being simply the best among the average isn't really an accomplishment to me.Posted 07-06-2012 at 12:35 AM by Addict
