My thoughts on the Wii U

What don't you get about that? I'm talking about a profile begin required for a save, not that saving isn't important....

And yes I can easily see the lost cause and it's not me...

When did I say anything about save files not being required?

    I said:

If my profile doesn't gain achievements or any sort of levelling system or anything why can't I just save to my HDD and not have a profile in between?

    _______________

The Miiverse stuff doesn't interest me, also i'm not saying the remote is the be all and end all, it would have been nice to have a universal remote like a game pad and I honestly thought that's what it was which I was excited for, I guess that's just me I am not saying it is required to make the games more fun... Just would have been cool if it actually worked and wasn't extremely limited.

I think your missing my points completely since I didn't ever say that save data is useless... I said having a profile linked to it was.

The very, very optional feature was Miiverse not saving...

I don't like chatting to people and drawing pictures and jumping around in a Mii that looks like the most basic model of something ever as if a child did a stick figure drawing and turned it into a model. (which my original point covered about the mii's not being customizable, probably you didn't read that or maybe you thought I was talking about how useless save data was.... ).

You also are missing my point about achievements as well, I'm not saying I think it would be amazing if NSMBWiiU had a 100 jumps on a shell Achievement, but if it had an achievement like finish the game within x time etc I would try for it and I think it would add a challenge and chance for me to play the game a bit longer, but I wouldn't try and set my own speed run time....

The main point is for non-exclusives it's less bang for your buck some achievements are really interesting and add a lot of replayability. It is something that should be part of their gaming experience and is stupid not to have it. I don't see the comparison to the cosmetics of a console....

I was saying DK GOTY to tease about how you're acting like save data literally doesn't exist. The contradiction was about how profiles are pointless and how you don't see any use behind save data. Every game nowadays uses it, "not seeing the point" was barely a valid argument when Zelda came out for the NES, and it's even more ridiculous now.

    Also:
    >"So the main reason they exist is for a very, very optional feature?"
    >Considers achievements beneficial to game design and the industry as a whole
    > Hasn't even tried Miiverse

But yeah, the remote is pointless on a lot of TVs. It's not really required for anything though. If you put that much importance into achievements I could see it irking you though, just like the fact that there's too much of an indentation in the N64 reset button or maybe that you think they should have painted the inside of a console differently. Those are pretty big things important to how fun games are, who cares about things like Miiverse that are the perfect compromise between giving up and going to a walkthrough or save data for people that don't beat 20+ hour games in one sitting.

Achievements aren't pointless they give you extra challenges that you otherwise wouldn't do. Its a whole new goal to strive for, thats like saying it's pointless to 100% a game, or its pointless to play a game.

So the main reason they exist is for a very, very optional feature?

And I don't see the contradiction? Donkey kong GOTY 2013? huh? Don't put quotes around something if it's not what I said.

If my profile doesn't gain achievements or any sort of levelling system or anything why can't I just save to my HDD and not have a profile in between?

Oh an a side note about the wiiU while I am appearing to hate on it I might as well say this, the universal remote feature doesn't work at all. You should be able to set your own frequencies like you can on an iPhone Universal remote, the pre-set stuff simply doesn't cut it. (doesn't work on any of my stuff)

    Example: http://l5remote.com/

It's comfier on the Wii U, achievements are pointless, and you jus contradicted yourself by saying "I don see a point in profiles I don't use the main reason they exist and save data isn't a thing donkey kong GOTY 2013".

My thoughts on the Wii U

The Gamepad is much harder to perform well with, due to how awkward the controller is. It's ok for games designed straight up for it but lets take for example Sonic and Sega all stars racing transformed, play that on the 360 and then play it on the wiiU and tell me what was more comfortable. Also the 360 version has achievements / awards etc.

It's just much to large to be comfortable unless the game was meant for it, an example that would work in its favour would be Viva Pinata as the gamepad would really suit that game. But I'll be honest and I think this is true for most but once I found out that Rayman was coming out on all systems I decided straight away to get it on the 360.

Yes the Mii is a profile but an extremely poor one, my main point above was how limited it is. Compare it to the PS3 or 360's. There is no need for a profile, I don't touch any of the miiverse stuff. Save files.... you shouldn't need a profile for a save file, esp a profile that can't actually gain anything... What can I unlock with my profile? Nothing.

As much as it sounds like I am being a 360 fan boy, I'm not, it just seems very clear to me that unless the game is exclusive its not gonna perform well on the U.

How is the Gamepad limiting? It has all the buttons that a 360/PS3 controller has. Profiles are basically different save files/Miiverse accounts.

My thoughts on the Wii U

The wiiU is built for exclusive titles only it is too last gen and uncompromising for ports.

Honestly would you rather the full game with achievements/trophies and awards, working on the controller that has come with the system, or a ported version with no achievements and you need to buy a Pro controller for it to work. Developers have to make it work on the Gamepad or they are limiting themselves serverly to who can play the game on the wiiU.

The wiiU is nothing more than a new controller for the wii, I have one purely for the first party games, I wouldn't buy any ported games for it as I know they would perform better and have more content on the other systems.

All the mii stuff is really basic as well, I'm not a fan of avatars but at least they are customizable, mii's are very basic, it would have been nice if you could have made a nintendo character as you mii as well. Very, very limited not sure if there is a difference between the wiiU miis and the wii's miis. The fact you also have to have a profile to the games is really stupid because there is no achievement system so the profile is useless and really annoying

I like the name "Pingas bomb" more, though.

My rant on not absolutely everything but still quite a bit, which says nothing

I actually agree with pretty much everything here. I like to sit down and just be philosophic, because I can find answers to things I'm confused about and I feel at peace. It's also very interesting, too.

I found this blog post very good, and it's one of the best I've seen on RWC. I was actually thinking about making something a blog or thread about philosophy, but you beat me to the punch.

Actually, a thread on intelligent conversation sounds really good. I'll go make one.
