Zelda Skyward Sword

I finished it last week and was looking for a topic to post in about it but couldn't find one... I found that odd, have you guys not played it much yet, its been out for a while...

For me I'd put it about 3rd in the Zelda games, so for me OoT, WW and then SS. Of course that's just me, there was things I really liked about the game and stuff I hated.

One thing I hated was the reuse of areas there really is only 4 main areas and they just get bigger. Just before I finished it I was expecting another 10 hours of gameplay because the map is never actually filled out, which is strange.

I thought it was much better then TP story wise and everything felt more Zelda to me and I think it was a good game, story was more in line with what I expect from a Zelda game and I'd say the story of the game is second only to OoT for the Zelda games. There's lots that I could say that were a miss for me, but are spoilers so I won't.

The motion control I always hate, but where ok in this sometimes they worked perfect other times they didn't work all that well.

What did you guys think?

I have at a friend's house, but I don't own it. The motion controls seemed to work a lot better than I thought they would, but I still think I prefer it being used more subtly, like in TP.

I beat the game about a month ago. I really enjoyed it, but like you said, I felt they could have expanded the map a bit more. I was expecting to expand, and see a whole bunch of new places that we could explore. I did like the 4 main areas, but I would have liked to have something new. I also felt that it could have been more open-ended, instead of just jumping from the sky to get everywhere. I prefer to explore the overworld myself, like in Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess.

The motion controls were exceedingly well done for the most part, but there were times that they were annoying. I would aim the Wii remote in one direction, and it would go in a completely different one altogether. But I know that will improve when the next console Zelda game gets released.

The storyline was very captivating, but I was hoping to see some more backstory on Hyrule itself, see the Sheikahs a bit more, and see Ganondorf being born. Other than that, I really liked the game, and I can hardly wait for the next one.

Yeah hopefully the next one won't have motion controls. I thought jumping was great seeing it would have been pretty boring to backtrack through the main areas so much, but maybe a few drops in the unexplored areas would be good and then you could explore Hyrule field.

Swimming was the problem for me the motion controls where very hard when swimming.

Really though I was expecting more members to have played this...

I played this game, I didn't beat it but was close and watched my sister beat the game.
The story was good though... But there was some things I didn't liked and made me wonder about the future of Zelda games.

It was how the "overworld" under the clouds felt more like a dungeon, when I think they should of left it more open and then the dungeons. xD And its kind of a strange design from how a overworld should look like I think. I hope the next Zelda game has more open space like OoT and many other Zelda games. One was the lack of villages, another about lack of enemies. Mostly its how I explored.

Other than that, the game was OK but wasn't the best to me. So in my rating: 6.5 out of 10 or 7.5 out of 10. :P The game was good but not the best to me.

I thought the dungeons were in a range between AWESOME and OH GOD, THIS IS A DUNGEON?

I agree with you on the overworld. The design was kind of awkward in my opinion, and one thing I also found was a lack of towns and people. I'm guessing that the reason the surface was like that was because Skyward Sword took place before Ocarina of Time, before Hyrule was created. That would mean that there wouldn't be any real 'life' in the place yet.

If the next Zelda game takes place later in the timeline, then I would expect that the overworld will be more open-ended, and there will be a lot more life.
