That's kind of their thing, seeing as how they control the market. 4J was also the main developer converting it, not as much involved with Mojang as I had hoped.

4J *still* isn't Microsoft, and it's not their "thing". The devs get to set the prices, as long as they fit Microsoft's guidelines.

From what I hear about L4D, it was either they put a price tag on the console DLC, or the consoles would get no DLC at all.

It's not hard to believe that's why considering if they were trying to milk money from people's pockets by charging for DLC, it would only make sense that the PC audience be charged money, too. But they weren't.

Still, Microsoft does receive a portion of all the profits made on the marketplace, and of course, who doesn't want to make money off of things that weren't Exploited before, it's like De Beers and diamonds, they dominate the market pretty much, so they get to set the prices for that exact market. Why not maximize profits, eh?

They still had the option of making it free, it could attract more buyers of the game, paying off the fee of putting it on the marketplace.

Well, you have to take into account that Steam doesn't really have any *used* games, but the consoles do, so maybe they do that to make up for lost profits...

It's more of Steam not charging the amounts that the XBLA and PSN do.

They sometimes charge more than the XBL/PSN group do for old games, but they have a somewhat larger library, as well as a nearly free multiplayer network, but as you could have noticed, Steam still has DLC that requires a payment, some of them worth quite a lot. However, with the amount of ridiculous sales Steam has, it almost always comes up as the best method to buy and play games IMO, DLC and all.
