Obviously Win7 will be faster than XP, but not by much. If you want a faster computer, get a better processor and RAM. As for Mac, I am not going to go in on detail again, but it definantly does not have too little programs, just about every program on windows exists for Mac either by the same developer or another. The program excuse has existed for way too long. It's bs.

Most computers can not run Mac operating systems, either way, using a Mac OS outside a Mac is illegal. So saying "Mac" is enough.
